The Magic of Taos, New Mexico

About Taos

Taos is a diverse town nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the high desert plains of northeastern New Mexico. It is located just an hour's drive from the southern border of Colorado and one and a half hours north of Santa Fe, two and a half hours north of Albuquerque.

As the first designated National Arts Community, it has a long history of artists coming for the spectacular scenery, the unrivaled shifting light, and creative camaraderie. Galleries abound. The Fall Arts Festival with New Mexico wine and art tours punctuates the end of summer. You can enjoy talented local musicians and singers playing around town every night. The Taos Pueblo offers native culture and a smoke-free alcohol-free casino.

Taos Ski Valley and Angel Fire are popular winter skiing and snowboarding destinations from December to May. Casting or rafting on the Rio Grande, or swooshing down the 12,000 feet from Kachina Peak, every season offers adventure, if that's what you're seeking.

Local restaurants encompass healthy organic food options to traditional Southwestern green chili dishes and native fry bread.

For a small town, Taos has a lot to offer.  But, if peace and quiet are what you need, there is no better place to be. There are roads you can drive where you won't see another car for miles and trails you can hike that offer solitude and inspirational sights.
